Register as a Temporary Patient

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from any local GP practice for up to 14 days.

You can register as a temporary patient for up to three months at any GP surgery. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register at the practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply complete the temporary residents form. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient though they have an obligation to offer emergency care.

You cannot register as a temporary patient at a surgery in the area where you are already registered.

Please hollies.medical@nhs.net or if you have been offered a face to face appointment, make sure to bring this form with you to your appointment.

Try to have the following information available when you attend your appointment for the first time:

  • Details of your ongoing medical problems
  • Details of your medical problems you have suffered in the past
  • Details of any medicines that you are currently taking
  • Details of any allergies
  • Contact details of your registered or previous practice

We are unable to make this electronic as per our online permanent registration form due to NHS requirements.
